Robert Menhert has been a director/cinematographer for over thirty years. He got his professional start shooting film for television in Los Angeles, and then moved into documentary films and commercials. He has written and directed a series of films for the United States Air Force and Navy as well as producing films for Lockheed Corporation. This led to a series of airline commercials for Ansett Australia Airlines, Delta, Gulf Air, British Air, Eastern Airlines, Lauda Air, Alaska Airlines and National Airlines.

Robert is also an accomplished aerial and action cinematographer and in this capacity has worked on major feature films such as; Air Force One, Fight Club, The Game, The Horse Whisperer, Jurassic Park 3, Meet Joe Black, Metro, Men of Honor, Space Cowboys, The Thirteenth Floor, Thirteen Days, Twister and The Sum of All Fears.

Robert has also shot national television commercials for the U.S. Air Force, Saab, BMW, Lexus, Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Boeing, Lockheed, Shell Oil Company, Nike, General Motors and others.

IMAX photography is also part of Robert's repertoire and he has filmed segments of Everest, American Road, Thrill Ride, Birds of Prey, and Spirit of America. His own IMAX film, American Railroad, is currently in pre-production.

Robert has just completed photography for a series of Cadillac commercials and two features: It's a Mismatch and Chloe's Prayer. He is currently in pre-production on a thriller called Jinn. He has also been involved in education since 1976 and is a Professor of Film at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where he has taught since 1981.

Robert's education at UCLA was in theoretical physics and astronomy. He has stayed in touch with the scientific community and periodically gives talks on the subjects. He has recently completed a novel titled, Looking Down at the Sky, that takes place in the world of theoretical physics. He is currently working on a science fiction story called Defiance, and a sequel to Looking Down at the Sky.

Robert lives with his wife, Kathy, in La Canada, California. They have two grown sons, Christopher
and Michael.
